What Youll Do As an Engine Controls Application Engineer at John Deere Power Systems, located in Waterloo, IA, you will develop, and calibrate, and test the engine-to-vehicle interface and vehicle-specific engine software for various John Deere vehicle programs. Your goal will be to innovatively match engine electronics capabilities to vehicle requirements in ways that exceed customer expectations. In addition, you will: Actively manage project schedules with Engine Application engineering and vehicle partners to deliver engine software on time Utilize the application software development process to create and deliver high quality software Work with and integrate input from representatives of base engine, engine performance and emissions, aftertreatment, engine application engineering, vehicle engineering, and electronics groups Manage PV&V and software release activities related to the overall engine controls package. Support field test fleet and production start-up issues at the factory. Create and maintain Electronics System Requirements to document engine control and vehicle interface requirements. What It Takes We need a solid communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelors degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Computer/Agricultural Engineering or equivalent experience. In addition, we require: 2+ years engineering experience (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Agricultural preferred). 2+ years technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems. Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 10% to support program needs. A strong candidate will also have: Experience with diesel engine electronics component and system specification and development. Experience with failure analysis for electronic components and connection systems. Basic experience with diesel engines and engine subsystems (eg cooling, lubrication, air, fuel, aftertreatment etc.) Experience coordinating schedules among various groups.
